If you’re waiting until it actually feels like fall in Texas to book your family photos…I have some unfortunate news. 😂
By the time Fort Worth finally stops cosplaying as the surface of the sun, fall family photo season is already well underway.
So, when should you book fall family photos in Fort Worth?
Ideally? Late summer.
August and early September are a great time to get on your photographer’s calendar—especially if you want a session anytime in September, October, November, or even the first half of December, need photos back in time for holiday cards, or have a specific weekend in mind.
I know.
Booking fall photos while you’re still wearing shorts and questioning every life decision that requires leaving the air conditioning feels a little ridiculous.
But Texas fall plays by its own rules.
And if family photos are on your list this year, here’s what you actually need to know.

Fall is easily one of the busiest times of year for family photographers.
Everybody suddenly remembers at approximately the same time that:
Then there are all the normal fall things.
Soccer.
Football.
School events.
Birthday parties.
Halloween.
Thanksgiving.

That one random Saturday your husband absolutely cannot miss because apparently hunting season just started or something very important happened with his college football team. 😉
Suddenly the weekends that looked wide open in August have approximately twelve thousand things crammed into them.
And here’s the part most people don’t realize:
Fall isn’t just October.
It’s September when everyone is still pretending they’re organized.
It’s October when schedules start getting spicy.
It’s November when we’re all just trying to survive and remember where we parked the car.
And yes—even early December when we’re squeezing in last-minute sessions before holiday deadlines.
Booking early gives you more options across the entire season—and more importantly, it takes one thing off your mental load before the fall chaos really kicks in.

If you’re hoping for fall photos in Fort Worth, the honest answer is: the earlier you reach out, the more of the season you’ll have to choose from.
September, October, November, and early December all have their own kind of magic.
September is still warm (ok it’s hot I get it, but sunrise is available for that reason 😉), but golden and soft in the evenings/mornings.
October is classic “fall photo season” with peak demand and beautiful fall light.
November brings richer tones, some changes to tree color by the end of the month, cooler air, and a slower, calmer feel.
Early December is cozy, relaxed, and perfect for families who want holiday-card-ready images without the October rush.
Each month has its own vibe—and the best part is, you don’t have to pick the “perfect” one alone. We’ll choose based on your schedule, your kids, and what kind of feel you want in your images.
The bigger thing to remember is that good dates across all of these months go quickly.
If your family has limited availability, divorced/coparenting schedules to coordinate, extended family coming into town for the holidays, sports every weekend, a spouse who travels, or little ones with an early bedtime, the earlier we can choose your date, the better.

Welcome to Texas. 😂
This is probably one of the biggest reasons families hesitate to book fall photos early.
You’re sitting there in August thinking:
There is absolutely no way I’m putting my children in sweaters right now.
And I agree!
Please don’t.
Booking your session now doesn’t mean we’re photographing it tomorrow.
We’re simply reserving your date somewhere in the fall season window.
And when it comes time to plan outfits, we’ll style for the actual weather and location, not the fantasy version of fall where everyone is wearing chunky knits while leaves gently tumble from the trees. There are plenty of ways to create “fall vibes” without melting in the Texas heat—and that’s exactly what I’m here for.
Sometimes Fort Worth gives us crisp air.
Sometimes Fort Worth gives us 87 degrees in October.
We adapt.
That’s part of the deal.

NO.
And I really want more families to know this.
Fall has somehow become the family photo season, but it is absolutely not your only option.
In fact?
January and February are two of my favorite months to photograph families in Fort Worth.
Yes. Really.
The temperatures are usually much more comfortable. The crazy holiday rush is over. Locations aren’t nearly as crowded. Our winter landscape gets these gorgeous golden, neutral tones, and you aren’t trying to squeeze photos between soccer practice, pumpkin patches, Halloween parties, Thanksgiving travel and Christmas-card deadlines.
There is something wonderfully calm about it.
So if you’re reading this thinking:
Crap. We can’t make fall work this year.
Good news.
You don’t have to.
Your family is worth photographing in January, too.

Here’s my simplest answer:
If you know you want fall family photos in Fort Worth, book the moment the thought pops into your head.
You don’t need to have outfits figured out. (I’m here for that!)
You don’t need to know exactly where you want to go. (Also here for that!)
You don’t need to have your Christmas card design picked. (OK…that one I’m not here for lol)
And you definitely don’t need to wait until Texas decides it’s fall. (because girl… please. This state is so committed to summer it feels personal sometimes 😂)
Newsflash: That’s the stuff I help you with.
Just get the date on the calendar first.
Then we’ll figure out the rest together.
Because the goal isn’t to create one more thing for you to manage this fall.
It’s actually the opposite.
I want you to show up knowing the planning is handled, your kids are allowed to be kids, nobody has to perform, and you get to spend an evening loving on your people while I preserve what this season of your family feels like.
Even if “fall” happens to be 84 degrees.
Because…Texas. 🤎

If family photos have been sitting somewhere on that mental list of things you keep meaning to do, consider this your reminder to get them on the calendar.
You don’t need to wait for cooler weather.
You don’t need everyone’s outfits figured out.
You don’t need to somehow find the one magical weekend when your entire family’s schedule is completely empty. (Does that weekend even exist?)
We can start with the date.
I’ll help you with the rest.
If you’re ready for updated family photos this fall season—September through early December—I’d love to photograph your wildlings exactly as they are.
Ideally, reach out in August or early September for the most flexibility. Fall sessions can run from September through early December, and popular dates—especially weekends—tend to fill first.
Not necessarily! October is popular, but September, November, and early December can be just as beautiful. The right month depends on your family’s schedule, your kids’ bedtimes, the weather, and the look you love.
We work with Texas instead of fighting it. I’ll help you plan outfits that photograph beautifully without requiring sweaters in 90-degree weather, and we can use sunrise or later evening light when temperatures are more comfortable.
